Director of Advancement

Neuchâtel Junior College (NJC), one of Canada’s premier and most respected independent schools, is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and entrepreneurial professional to serve as Director of Advancement, effective as soon as possible.

Neuchâtel Junior College, founded in 1956, is located in the French-speaking town of Neuchâtel, Switzerland, and offers a one year, pre-university programme that is anything but just another year of high school. It is a place for young men and women to study, to travel and to learn about their course work, about other cultures, and about themselves…all this to better prepare themselves for university, but more importantly, for life. Unparalleled to any university preparatory school, parents and students who choose NJC see the value in gaining a truly international perspective to education.

Reporting to the Head of School, and working out of our Toronto office, the Director will consult with the NJC Canadian Committee and the Directors of the NJC Fund, and will work collaboratively with the Director of Canadian Operations. The Director of Advancement will provide strategic leadership, energy and wisdom, and will continue to forge constructive links with the various constituencies of the NJC community, highlighting the achievements and profile of the school. As a chief ambassador of the school, the Director of Advancement will promote and enhance relationships with the parent body, the NJC alumni, volunteers and its growing group of supporters. To this end, s/he will have experience or expertise in other advancement areas which may include marketing for fundraising and recruitment, communications, alumni affairs, advancement services, etc.

The successful candidate will be a proven leader in relationship building with a demonstrated track record of success in fundraising, preferably acquired in a professional capacity in an educational or related not-for-profit organization. Travel across Canada, and occasionally to Europe, will be required to attend to the duties outlined above. The ability to communicate in French would be an asset.

This is an outstanding opportunity to build on past achievements and to lead NJC to new levels of excellence in advancement. The Search Committee will begin its review of candidates in early March. Applications, including an up to date curriculum vitae, a letter of introduction and the names of three references (who will not be contacted without the consent of the applicant) should be emailed by March 12, 2010 in confidence to:
